DESCRIPTION:Area Organisers\, Recruitment and Development Officers\, and Training Officers will be pulling out all the stops to give the Union a massive membership boost. \nVital to the success of this initiative is our dedicated team of reps and activists who will play a pivotal role during the Week. \nPotential \nWe will only be successful if we work as a team to strengthen our membership where we already have members and reach out to those potential members at unorganised sites. \nIt promises to be an exciting week with new promotional leaflets and posters in the pipeline and a determination to make a real difference in workplaces across the UK. \nWe need to identify the thousands of new members who are within our grasp and explain to them how Usdaw can improve their working lives. \nSpeak to your manager now about time off to organise a stall in the canteen\, or time off to talk to new starters/non-members. SUMMARY:Our Work Matters: Outsourced Facilities Workers Connect - London
DESCRIPTION:Outsourced workers are the forgotten heroes who keep the country going. \nAt Our Work Matters: Outsourced Workers Connect\, workplace union reps and members who are outsourced and work in facilities management roles* in the public sector will come together to discuss the issues facing their colleagues and workplaces\, and how to run successful campaigns to resolve them. \nThis training event will give practical advice and support on key everyday workplace issues such as negotiating for sick pay\, agreeing facility time arrangements and bargaining for insourcing. \nYou’ll hear directly from other outsourced reps and members who won have campaigns in their workplaces on these issues. \nIt’ll also be an excellent opportunity for you to network and make new connections with reps and members working in similar roles and workplaces to you. The packed programme of interactive workshops will feature inspirational union reps and give key practical advice. \nSign up and join other union reps and members to learn\, share\, connect and make a difference in your workplace. \n* Facilities management roles include outsourced caterers\, cleaners\, security guards\, porters and building services. \n**  A small number of bursaries will be available for travel expenses.
