And we’re closer than ever to delivering transformative change for working people. \nThe Government’s plan to Make Work Pay is making its way through parliament and could become law later this year. This plan was developed with unions and would be the biggest upgrade of workers’ rights in a generation. \nThis shows the difference that unions make\, delivering higher pay and stronger workers’ rights in Westminster. And unions are making work pay up and down the country too – union members earn tens of thousands more than non-union members over their working lives. Union members have won significant pay rises in both the public and private sectors in recent years. This year it is even more important that we: \n\nClaim our past\nCelebrate our present\nCreate our future\n\nEach year we choose five LGBT+ historical figures in line with the theme to highlight. This year we have chosen five LGBT+ people who have created social change from across the centuries in progressing change for women\, the environment\, housing\, nuclear disarmament\, preserving heritage\, abolition of the slave trade\, and immigration\, among many other causes. \nThe 2025 LGBT+ Historical Figures are: \n\nOctavia Hill\nIvor Cummings\nAnnie Kenney\nCharlie Kiss\nOlaudah Equiano\n\nIf you are planning on celebrating UK LGBT+ History Month in February 2025 please register on the form below\, and add your events to the official UK LGBT+ History Month calendar here.
