Join us for a special event to mark South Asian History Month, with a programme packed full of workshops and discussion sessions.

10:30             Welcome and Introductions (Rupinder Panesar, Nashila Premji, Shirley-Allen-Jackson, Matt Pointon, WEA)

Possibly opening speakers – Lee Barron (TUC), Simon Parkinson (WEA), an Asian MP

10:50             Fashion Workers Advice Bureau – Leicester (FAB-L)

11:20             Rebecca Sixsmith-Hughes & Adam Alarakhia (CWU) – building South Asian activism in the unions

11:50             Break

12:00             Indi Deol (DesiBlitz) – Film on South Asians from East Africa

12:30             Panel discussion (chaired by Rupinder Panesar)

13:00             Lunch & networking with stalls

14:00             Workshops – choose from:

#1: Abda Khan, Culturally-sensitive communications

#2: Keith Lewis and Sohail: Harmful gambling in the Asian community

#3: Potential third workshop on building Asian activism by Rebecca Sixsmith-Hughes
