Developing Black Activists in Welsh Trade Unions

While Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic workers are more likely to be trade union members, they remain underrepresented as union reps, activists, staff, officers, political leaders and change makers. We need to encourage, educate and support those interested in stepping up within our movement.

The TUC’s Anti-Racism Taskforce and the Welsh Government’s Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan have recognised this challenge. Wales TUC is responding by organising an exciting development programme for the next generation of Black Leaders. We hope the programme will help identify, motivate and talent-spot Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic members, and activists.

Learn about our Black Activist Development Programme

Wales TUC’s Black Activist Development programme will run in early 2023. It will give you an opportunity to learn about the trade union movement’s structure, diversity, priorities and leadership. It will also give you the confidence and tools to be able to get more involved in your union’s organising, influencing and decision-making structures.
