In 1910 the Women Chainmakers of Cradley Heath fought a successful 10-week dispute to establish the right to a minimum wage for their labour. Each year the Women Chainmakers Festival recognises and celebrates the role of women within the trade union movement and aims to reclaim the often forgotten contribution of women to Britain’s industrial heritage. The festival usually includes a banner procession, history tent, activities for children, music and speakers. In 2020 and 2021 the festival was held online. The 2022 festival is scheduled for Saturday 2 July and will return to Cradley Heath – find out all the details from the Women Chainmakers festival.
